One of the many reasons we fell so deeply in love with the Tornjak is its incredibly rich history and culture. It's awe inspiring to see how deeply the breed is loved in its countries of origin.
One testament to that is the song Himna Tornjaku, translated as Anthem to the Tornjak. This tribute from Bosnia and Herzegovina captures pride and affection shared by many people. It's a beautiful reminder of how intertwined Tornjaks are with their culture, their people and their responsibilities.
A dog breed with its own song
The lyrics were written by Rusmir Agačević of Travnik and set to music by Milan Filipović. It features Monti, a working Tornjak from Bosnia and Herzegovina. I've included an English translation of the lyrics below and while some of the poetry is inevitably lost in translation, I hope it gives you a glimpse into the pride and deep respect this remarkable breed inspires.
